The reactions on the LED throwie action at Kottbusser Tor in Berlin on the 11th of March were overwhelming. Almost all where positive. The negative comments broached the issue of the environmental problem the LED throwies are because of the lithium batteries, they contain.

GRL Germany knew about the problem since the beginning and now invented a simple device to remove LED throwies when they are dead and gone.

On the DIY-Website www.instructables.com there is now an Instructable to build a LED Throwie Removal Unit.

The following Video will show you how it works:

The place was easy to access. No wall to be climbed, no blocked up doors. He could just walk into that place. The site is really impressive. The main hall is huge with a lot of stuff lying around there. There is a stage apparent and even the DJ booth is still there. Apart the main hall things aren’t that clear anymore. There are a lot of rooms were it’s hard to imagine what was in there during the “Euro-Tower” times.

Grafitti artist did there work in almost every room. And there are signs of people who lived here, at least for a short while.

The installation has been done in the main hall.

What a nice place. Let’s go there again next summer and hang out at the Spree with some bottles of beer. And a card box full of LED Throwies of course.
